Time to adopt a new pet?

My golden retriever and long time best friend, Jack passed away last month and the house has been eerily quiet. We got a ton of condolence cards from all the vets he visited over the years, it was a nice thought but would tear me up by surprise at the mail box. Jack was a rescue dog and had some issues.  He had seizures and it got quite expensive to get him the pills and the blood work he needed regularly. I think he was a pure bred and they seem to have more health problems than the mutts we have had in the past.  Anyway, luckily the heart ache is fading and I know that he would want us to find a new dog to spoil rotten. I do know that I don’t want a pure bred or any kind of pet store puppy.  I want a mutt. I want a young male lab or retriever, because they aim to please and like to swim. I have been already thinking it is time to search, but where do you start? There are actually too many choices here in Colorado.

I was just cruising on nextdoor.com and someone suggested that I check out this site. http://pawsco.org   They recommended that I adopt Wiley . Adoptable dogs at PawsCo I did some research and was instantly intrigued.  It sounds like he came from somewhere in Kansas and he sounds like he is high energy and in need of some training.  It was easy to apply for adoption and they had a lot of younger pets available for adoption.   Many of them seem to be from a Leadville shelter. They emailed me back super fast and I think I may get to adopt him!
